Tibetan Painted Chest
A vibrantly painted Tibetan Trunk with a dragon motif typical of pieces from this region. Afforded only by monasteries, these chests were stacked next to each other hence why only the front is painted. This is a long chest with a hinged lid on rings and would be a stunning addition to the bottom of a bed or as pictured underneath a window.
As with many Tibetan pieces, we believe that the decorative panel has been repainted at some point and the iron work to the front has been replaced with new clasps. The old marks where the original iron clasps were attached can be identified inside the box and to the front. The lid is a later replacement but has been done well. The chest is priced accordingly to reflect the repairs.
